Municipal facilities and public spaces often contain equipment, structures, or conditions that can unintentionally draw the attention of children—sometimes with dangerous consequences. These “attractive nuisances” pose a unique safety and liability risk for communities, making proactive prevention essential. To support members in identifying and managing these hazards, the Hazard Alert highlights key safety practices that help protect the public, reduce exposures, and reinforce each municipality’s commitment to creating safer environments for residents of all ages.
