Deck the halls with boughs of egregious decorator malpractice

By Tami Tanoue, Executive Director

The holiday decoration at the New Jersey entrance to the Holland Tunnel was cringeworthy to just about everyone who saw it. Covering the “O” in “Holland” with a wreath, fine. But covering the “N” with a tree when there’s a suitable “A” right next to it? And throwing another wreath over the “U” in “Tunnel”?  Why? Why? Thanks to this horrific act of decorator malpractice, tunnel commuters had to drive under a big sign that spelled out something like “HOLLAAD TONNEL” for the holidays. Oh, the humanity!

Drivers were rightfully incensed, and a massive outcry ensued. There was even a change.org petition signed by thousands.  The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has bough-ed (sorry) to popular opinion and announced that the sign will be fixed.  Local government is nothing if not responsive!
