Governor Polis Signs Workers’ Compensation Physician Choice Bill (HB25-1300) to Take Effect January 1, 2028
House Bill 25-1300, the Workers’ Compensation Benefits Proof of Entitlement bill, was signed into law by Governor Polis on June 4, 2025. Effective January 1, 2028, the Bill makes significant changes to Colorado’s Workers’ Compensation Act, including shifting how authorized treating physicians (ATPs) are selected, extending timelines for physician changes, and requiring use of Division of Workers’ Compensation (DOWC) utilization standards.
