House Bill 26-1045 (the “Act”) adds several provisions to Colorado law concerning assistance-animal accommodations for individuals with disabilities in housing. The Act expressly includes animals that provide therapeutic emotional support, presumes that permitting an assistance animal is a reasonable accommodation following an opportunity for an interactive process, and sets standards for evaluating accommodation requests, animal-specific safety concerns, and supporting documentation.
