This half-day seminar is designed for law enforcement professionals and other municipal staff who communicate with the media and the public during routine operations and critical incidents. The course covers strategic communication, accuracy, transparency, and word choice to build public trust and credibility. Through case studies, current examples, and hands-on practice, attendees will learn to manage information, plan messages, and control interviews while addressing misinformation. Emphasis is placed on delivering clear, accurate, and authentic messages in today’s fast-paced, social media environment. Participants will leave with a practical framework for deciding how, when, and where to communicate media; tools to plan interviews, press conferences, and public statements effectively; improved confidence in delivering clear, accurate and authentic messages on camera; and a  deeper understanding of how word choice, tone, and timing shape public perception and trust.
