Senior Workers’ Compensation Claims Examiner

CIRSA has an opening for a Senior Workers’ Compensation Claims Examiner. CIRSA is a self-insurance pool that specializes in providing property/liability and workers’ compensation coverages and services for municipalities and affiliated public entities across the state.

Under the direction of the Workers’ Compensation Manager, this position is responsible for managing and evaluating complex workers’ compensation claims from start to finish. You’ll investigate incidents, input and maintain claim data, assess liability, determine benefits eligibility, identify opportunities for subrogation or offsets, report indemnity claims to the Division of Workers’ Compensation, and authorize treatment in accordance with WC regulations. This role involves frequent communication with member municipalities, medical providers, legal counsel, internal teams and the Division of Workers’ Compensation, and includes preparing legal documents and necessary state filings, attending hearings, and evaluating claims for settlement. You’ll also report high loss frequencies to CIRSA’s Risk Control Department to help reduce future workplace injuries and losses.

This position requires five years of progressively responsible workers’ compensation claims handling experience. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred. You must have knowledge of Colorado Workers’ Compensation Act, Colorado Workers’ Compensation Rules of Procedure, Colorado Workers’ Compensation fee schedules, Colorado administrative and judicial decisions affecting workers’ compensation claims, and related regulations and procedures.

Position Hiring Range:

$84,059 – $105,047 DOQ

What You Bring to CIRSA:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Work Experience: Five years of progressively responsible workers’ compensation experience.
  • Knowledge of Colorado’s Workers’ Compensation Act Rules of Procedure, and fee schedules; administrative and judicial decisions affecting workers’ compensation claims, and related case law, regulations and procedures.
  • A valid Driver’s License is preferred.
