Linda Black has been hired to be the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for CIRSA. She served as CFO for the North Carolina League of Municipalities (NCLM) for the last eight years and was on staff there for 19 years all together. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a Forensic Certified Public Accountant, a specialty in which investigative skills are used to determine events that transpired in disputes or litigation. Linda holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and finance from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She will be officially joining CIRSA at the end of November.
CIRSA found Linda during a nation-wide search in an effort to fill the vacant CFO position. NCLM is similar to CIRSA as both organizations provide insurance coverage, claims and risk management, and safety training to cities and towns across the state.
“In my role as CFO for NCLM, I was responsible for the financial oversight for the Municipal League and three public risk pools,” she explains. “While every state is somewhat unique, I’m confident that my experience in the industry enables me to ‘hit the ground running’ as I enjoy assisting members with the issues they deal with day-to-day.”
Linda, her husband Greg, and their German Shorthaired Pointer named Camilla all “look forward to a new adventure and exploring Colorado.” Considering that her hobbies include hiking, bicycling, camping and fishing, they have come to exactly the right place. Welcome to the Rocky Mountain state, Linda! We look forward to a long and successful tenure working with the CIRSA Board and staff, and helping communities around Colorado be “safer together.”
