Aquatic Risk Management Seminars

With warmer temperatures just around the corner, your local pools will soon be full with people trying to escape the summer heat. Our Aquatic Risk Management Seminars are designed to provide training and education to aquatic personnel in an effort to help reduce the risk of pool-related liabilities. We have partnered with the American Red Cross to bring you this risk management workshop, which will offer insight into the operation of swimming facilities and will cover the following topics:

  • Aquatics Risk Management
  • Auditing Aquatics Facilities
  • Documentation and Signage
  • Top 10 Risk Findings at Aquatic Facilities
  • In-Service Training and How to Have a Better Training Program
  • Q & A Session

These seminars are designed for Parks & Recreation Directors, Pool Managers, Supervisors, Seasonal Workers, and other aquatic staff.

This workshop is free for CIRSA members, but space is limited. To register in advance, contact Channa Chavez at channac@cirsa.org or register online.  Morning refreshments will be provided and the cost of this seminar is FREE for members.

Presenters:
Mike Stagg, American Red Cross: Mike has 20-years experience in aquatics spanning from being a lifeguard, pool manager, Aquatics Director, and eventually onto Park City (UT) as a Recreation Director. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science with an emphasis in Athletic Training. Mike began working for the American Red Cross in 2016 and currently is the Aquatics Representative for
Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming.

Matt Haynes, American Red Cross: Matt began his aquatics career with the YMCA in 1999 and has managed numerous of facilities across the state of Alabama. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology with a pre-med concentration from Huntington College and an MBA from Troy University. Today he serves as the Product Manager for Lifeguarding and the Aquatic Examiner Service and served as a contributor to the
American Red Cross Aquatic Attraction Lifeguard Program and the 2017 American Red Cross Lifeguard Program.
